This test demonstrates our latest design for taking low pressure and producing high torque in the most efficient and inexpensive way. The engine was operated on compressed air at only 125 psig without a muffler or electronic controls.  This new design is capable of accepting pressures in excess of 3000 psig and temperatures exceeding 500C.  It can also handle cryogenic conditions.  Power output range and size can easily be scaled to any requirement.  Moisture condensing inside the engine is no problem for the materials or the cycle at any speed.  High torque and low RPM translates into greater reliability and lower manufacturing and maintenance costs.  With only 3 simple moving parts, the costs of manufacturing and ownership are unmatched by any competitor in the industry with simple, cheap and fast overhauls on-site. 

The Engine can run with any type of working fluid without the requirement of oil including:
-Combustion gasses for combustion applications
-Steam for Rankine cycle applications
-Compressed gasses such as Natural Gas for pressure letdown applications
-Air for CAES (Compressed Air Energy Storage) applications
-Hydraulic fluid for heavy industrial applications
-ORC fluids such as refrigerants and compressed CO2 for WHR (Waste Heat Recovery) applications.



Our first prototype Waste Heat Recovery Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) system pre-test just before the Holiday season.  We just wrapped some short lengths of tubing around the exhaust ducts of a factory that uses ovens for baked-on paint finishes of steel parts. 

This is the least ideal and most crude form of heat extraction but it is completely non-intrusive to the factory equipment.  We can run the system with absolutely no adverse effects on the factory process.  We can also fully integrate the system to access all of the waste heat for maximum efficiency if desired.

Using a low boiling point, non toxic, non ozone depleting, non flammable ORC fluid R245FA, we ran a 3-phase AC permanent magnet generator and made some power.  As you can see in the video, it easily powered six 100-watt light bulbs and all the mechanical drive gear with less than 100 psig system pressure. 

This system configuration using the full exhaust heat flow will generate up to 50 kW using the same size Expander and a larger generator. 


Our new Vengeance Expander running on compressed air at 90 psig, 30 CFM.
This model features a 6 inch diameter rotor and only 3 moving parts.  It can be scaled up or down to any size or stacked in tandem for controlled modular power.  This version is being prepared for beta test sites for waste heat recovery Steam/ORC applications.

The sound you hear when the engine stops is a one-way ratcheting sprag we added for neutral and coasting. 
We can deliver full useable direct-drive torque at the output shaft without a speed reducer gearbox.

Many types of rotary vane pumps and devices have been invented in the past.  Numerous attempts have been made throughout history to turn this design concept into a successful engine for motive power use but without success. Our patented modifications have transformed this simple design into a major contender for all other competing technologies for the use in anything that requires spinning an output shaft with unsurpassed torque!





Below is an example of how our Engine will be utilized in the Organic Rankine Cycle which is the most attractive and untapped market for using low grade waste heat to produce additional power for any application. Just imagine turning 10% to 20% of your low grade waste heat into useable power - without the need for a condensing compressor - even with an outside temperature of 40°C 





As the need for energy grows without adding to the pollution of the environment, the Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) using low quality wasted heat from industry for power generation has been chosen to be the most ideal process.  ORC uses wasted heat to vaporize low boiling point fluids.  This creates fluid pressure that spins the rotor of our engine which is coupled to a generator to produce electricity.  The Vengeance Power Engine was initially designed as a sealed turbine internal combustion engine to compete with the existing piston engine.  It has been tested in harsh conditions where high heat and high pressures are experienced.  These tests have demonstrated that the engine can survive such conditions.

Since ORC can use lower pressures and lower heat values, the Vengeance Power Engine’s reliability is greatly increased.  Due to its tremendous torque output at low RPM, it will outlast and outperform any other positive displacement expander on the market today.  The expansion ratio can easily be tailored to any specific application for optimized efficiency.  Because it is a positive displacement engine, it is more efficient than a standard turbine of its size.  Conventional turbines become less efficient as they are reduced in size.  Also, turbines need to run at very high speeds to compensate for blow-by losses.  Due to these high speeds and the fragile nature of the blades, any moisture present in the high speed flow will cause etching and erosion of the blades leading to imbalance and inevitable failure.  Since the vanes in the Vengeance Power Engine are made of a thick hard and durable alloy, they can withstand high pressures from any working fluid condition and will resist etching and erosion.  The Vengeance Power Engine’s simplicity and mostly 2D design makes it very inexpensive to manufacture, mass-produce, build and own. 

All other positive displacement expanders are designed with specific tolerances according to their application.  If the parameters change during operation, the expander would not operate as it was designed.  For example,  a temperature drop would cause the internal clearances to enlarge thus allowing leakage or blow-by resulting in poor efficiency.  If the temperature was to rise during operation, the internal clearances would become tight enough to cause the expander to seize.  This is called poor off-design performance.  The Vengeance Power Engine is not a poor off-design performer since it is designed to operate at any temperature and will not suffer if the working fluid condition changes. 

It is the only engine on the market today where one engine can be removed off of an assembly line and used in over five different applications without any modifications.  This is why it is the most dynamic engine in the world. 

The Vengeance Power Engine is a positive displacement sealed turbine and a true rotary engine.  It is a true rotary because it does not use a crankshaft to transfer reciprocating motion into rotary motion, which reduces the efficiency of the engine.  The forces from the expanding gasses from combustion, steam or compressed air are transferred directly into rotary motion simplifying the process and obtaining the most mechanical energy from the working gasses.

Since it is a positive displacement engine, it can easily be throttled for various RPMs.  The engine provides maximum torque at start-up.  It can also idle and run at a very low RPM without stalling like a turbine engine.  It does not require high velocities to compensate for blow-by past the vane tips like a turbine.  The exhaust temperatures are much cooler since more of the thermal energy from combustion is transferred into mechanical energy to turn the output shaft.  The simple design allows the engine to be scaled to any size for any power requirement.

The engine uses many off-the-shelf components that have gone through rigorous testing under very harsh conditions before implementation.  Since the engine can run at lower RPMs with optimal power delivery, reliability is greatly increased.

As an internal combustion engine, it can burn conventional fuels such as: gasoline, diesel, natural gas, propane and alternative fuels such as bio-diesel, ethanol, methanol, syngas, hydrogen, ammonia, dimethyl ether, etc..

The design also makes this unique engine capable of combining the Brayton Cycle and Rankine cycle to increase the efficiency of the engine where a fluid is boiled from the heat of combustion and then the pressurized steam (gas) can be introduced at the opposite side of the rotor to double the torque output of the engine.
